The OCDE offers the following services
to the University community:

Coaching and training: - offering
workshops for academic staff to improve their skills in instructional areas
e.g. syllabus design, team-based learning, testing and
assessment design and implementation, and using multimedia in instruction.

Accreditation support: – advising on
and reviewing Schools’ Self Studies and applications for accreditation of
academic courses of study prior to their submission to accrediting bodies.

Prior Learning Assessment:- Conducting assessment of experiential learning for the purposes of meeting matriculation standards and or for earning PLA credits.

Research:- Conducting action Research Projects e.g. Reflective Teaching Practice (RTP) with an aim to assist staff in improving their instructional methods.

Evaluation: - monitoring the quality of
courses of study through the administration of instructor/course evaluations and
other data collection strategies; development of new instructional and data
collection strategies through action learning projects.

Policy development: – recommending
and/or drafting policies necessary to improve the quality of learning and
teaching in the University.

Project management: – managing projects
intended to improve the quality of instruction and students’ learning
experiences in the University.
The Office provides both proactive and
responsive services to Schools, Departments and Faculties. Its innovative
approach is driven by the modelling of best practices in instructional
techniques, performance coaching, problem-solving and the celebration of success. |
