The Vice –President – Finance
and Business Services is responsible to the President for the
general administration and control of the financial,
accounting and procurement affairs of the University.
The division consists of
Business Management, Financial Accounting and the Procurement
and Administrative Services Departments. A total of Sixty-three
persons are employed in the division.
For the past four years the
department has been hosting an annual budget seminar. The aim is
to enable Budget Holders to adequately plan for their divisions.
During the seminar the financial results of past years are
reviewed and the projections for the current year is made.
In April 2003 the division
implemented the Responsibility Centre Management. This is an
approach to financial management where Budget Centres are held
accountable for expenditures as well as income.
Budget Centres are divided into
three areas:
- Core Function Revenue
Producing Areas (CFRPA)
- Support Centres and
- Subsidized Centres
