Become Involved in our Fund Raising Drive

UTech has launched on a programme to link Culture with Technology. As part of this drive a revival of cultural activities remains a focus on campus.

The UTech Art and Theatre Ensemble, incorporating Choir, Speech and Drama, Drumming, and Visual Arts, is a welcomed addition to the activities on campus. This group has been performing at most functions on campus.

The Caribbean Sculpture Park, the first of its kind in the Caribbean, was opened by editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine, Ms Suzanne Taylor and features the work of well- known sculptors.

Our Association has been asked to raise funds for the construction of a Centre "The UTech Centre for the Arts,"  to house all the cultural activities. The Fund was launched by the Minister of Education, Hon Burchell Whiteman, at the 1999 Alumni Awards Banquet.

Ways in which you can contribute to the Fund:

 Sale of Far- Q Prints
The Alumni commissioned artist Eric Smith to do a painting of Farquharson Hall. Prints of it are available in 5" x 7" and 11" x 16" framed and unframed, on paper and canvas for between US$5 -$100.(J$200- $4,000) (plus shipping and handling)

 Limited Edition Beach Towels

For a cost of US$19 (J$750), plus shipping and handling, limited edition Beach Towels make the ideal Collector's item.

Corporate Donations

Corporate entities both locally and internationally are encouraged to contribute

"Charitable Giving" Life Insurance policies

By purchasing a "charitable giving" life insurance policy, you will be making a significant donation to your alma mater.

Under this programme, past students buy insurance policies with the university as the owner and beneficiary and the past student as the life insured. Death claims and returns on investment policies / cash values are payable to the Institution.

One such programme, which was started some years ago, is currently being revived.

To date we have received the proceeds from one policy as a result of the death of one of our members.

In Jamaica, life insurance agents, Mrs. Verna Edwards and Mrs. Arlene Lawrence of Life of Jamaica will be assisting us with the revival and will be contacting you. We urge your cooperation and participation in this programme. Kindly contact us for further details. (Link to email)

All donations and premium payments are tax deductible.

WAYS TO GIVE

Private Donation

A simple way is by making your donation to the UTech Alumni by cash or personal cheque. We are currently able to accept credit card payments in Jamaica but are still negotiating the ability to accept these payments online.

Cheques may be made payable to UTech Alumni Association and mailed to:

The Alumni Relations Office
University of Technology, Jamaica
237 Old Hope Road
Kingston 6
