UTech Art and Theatre Ensemble performing
at the Little Theatre |
|
Given the high standard
that the UTech Art and Theatre Ensemble has achieved over the last few
years, they have been in high demand for most if not all major cultural,
ceremonial and formal events/activities taking place at the University.
The ensemble is made up of UTech students from both the elective and the
extracurricular classes who are being professionally trained and exposed
to develop professional traits in order to perform. The UTech Drummers,
for instance, are featured at various events, one of which was a brunch
held in collaboration with Lillian’s and JTB to upbeat marketing of the
Sculpture Park.
Drama – Students have
achieved a wealth of knowledge and confidence by way of the nature of
the productions they are required to participate in. For example, the
Drama elective give them the chance to gain experience from workshops
conducted at the centre. Sheryl- Lee Ralph and Tyne Daly hosted two of
note.
Music – The choir has
developed into a highly professional group, well demanded by the
University at large and the neighboring community. They are constantly
being requested to conduct performances in all types of events.
The Choir not only
performs for Orientation week, Graduation and other formal events at the
University, they get to showcase their talents for various personalities
and external functions. To note they were requested to perform for the
Ambassador of USA, Sue Cobb and Dr. Cheryl Holder at a Women’s
leadership Initiative function. Students therefore, have gotten the
opportunity to develop self-confidence, while learning to grasp the
rudiments of theatre production and all it entails.
