University had the vision and courage to partner with one of the
Caribbean's leading Multimedia and Multilingual firm, VILCOMM Services
International Limited. This is part
of the University's strategic efforts
to accelerate the infusion of new technologies on campus.
The partnership has the following key features:

The
signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between UTech and VILCOMM on
February 13, 1998

Open
interchange of information and expertise
-
Joint
publication of commercial CD-ROMs
-
Training
and Transfer of Multimedia skills to faculty and staff
-
Establishment
of a Multimedia Production Centre
By
June 1999, the Centre's mandate had expanded to include the following:

The
design, development and maintenance of the campus web site
-
The
design, development and maintenance of the campus Intranet
-
The
research and deployment of new and enabling technologies across campus
-
The
integration of special projects within the scope of the New Strategic
Plan for 2000-2004
