Annual Community Service Conference

This Annual Conference began in 2001 and has become a tradition. Our first year students start their tertiary educational life with a thoughtful academic conference where they share the experiences of fellow students, members of the Papine community and the Jamaican society who work in the field of national development. Our past conference themes have been:

2001     Joining Hands with the Community
2002     To Jamaica With Love
2003     You Can Change The World: Community Service, Development and You

Annual UTech/Community Forum

In our first two forums in 1999 and 2000 we met with the communities around us in “Lillians” to talk, and try to discover how we could work together. And in March 2003 – we moved out into the Papine Square and staged a Community Service Expo with the participation of neighbourhood clubs, businesses and churches.

On March 13, 2004 we will stage a Papine/UTech Sports and Culture Exposition. We will start with Concert in the Park in the Papine Square. Neighbourhood Groups (including UTech) will be asked to perform on the theme Peace Through Unity and Education. The second half of the programme will take place on the UTech Football field where a month long football competition will culminate in a final Football Extravaganza: four finals – junior male and female and senior male and female.
