University Community Service Projects

Community Service at UTech is not only a student endeavour. The university’s goal is total involvement – of students and staff, academic and administrative. The following projects are now on the ground:

- Development Plan for the Papine Area & its Environs (Faculty of the Built
  Environment).

- UTech/H.E.A.R.T NTA/Papine High School Project (Faculty of Education and Liberal
  Studies)

- Training Programme for Mustard Seed Communities’ Caregivers (Faculty of Health
   and Applied Science).

- JAMVAT – A Jamaica Government Project whereby students do Community Service
  and earn tuition fee rebate.

- “Saturday University for Young Adults” (Office of the President)

- “Tomorrow’s Children” (Centre for the Arts)

- Adoption of NWC Basic and Mona High School (Faculty of Business and
  Management)

- Adoption of Tower Hill Basic School (Human Resource Management Department)

- Rehabilitation of Family (Physical Development and Operations)

- Assisting “Abilities Foundation” (Technology Innovation Centre)

- “Adopt a Student for a Week” (Student Services)

- Literacy Programme for Ancillary Staff (Department of Liberal Studies & Staff
  Development Office)

We expect all other university units to join in this growing variety of services to the community.
