The mission of the Career
and Placement unit is: to provide a wide range of
Information, training,
research and employment opportunities to meet the career
development needs of the University community.
This unit engages in
activities that are geared towards our students and
graduates total preparedness for employment and/ or
entrepreneurship.
The unit maintains strong
relationship with:

Students and alumni to
establish and fulfill professional income earning
goals.

Administration and
Academic departments on pertinent matters regarding
our major stakeholders.

Corporate society to
identify and fulfill employment and other career
related requirements.
Services Provided
Consultancy
The unit facilitates
individual and group career counselling for students and
graduates.
Employment Empowerment
Sessions
These sessions
are held in semester 1 and semester 2 and are geared
towards preparing students for the job market. All
students are encouraged to participate in at least one
of the series during their tenure at the University.
Mentoring Programme
The unit along with the
Alumni Relations Office coordinates the activities of
the mentoring programme. This programme links third and
fourth year students with successful employers and
alumni. The objective is to foster students’ life coping
skills.
Job Placement
The unit assists students
and alumni in gaining various forms of employment. In so
doing we collaborate with organizations locally,
regionally and internationally to establish potential
job opportunities.
The
following forms of employment can be obtained through
the unit:
Annual Job Fair
We host an Annual
Job Fair in semester two (2) and this gives
our students an opportunity to start networking with
Human Resource Professionals who are poised to offer
various forms of employment.
