Programme Design
Land Economy and Valuation Surveying (otherwise known as Estate Management) is concerned with the management and development of land and its resources, institutions and their associated activities and interests. The knowledge and skills are developed from a range of disciplines such as, land management, public policy, law, planning,economics, and valuationare integrated to meet the future challenges facing landowners and land managers. Knowledge and understanding of land management and emerging land uses are combined with the business skills necessary for successful decision-making and business diversification. The programme aims to provide graduates with a foundation that will enable them to respond to the changes taking place in the discipline within the economic, legal, sociological and technological framework of societies. The student/graduate is concerned not only with practical land management but also with the financial, legal, planning and policy contexts within which decisions are made and business interests managed.
In addition to the general courses required by the University, the programme contains core modules that are designed to satisfy professional standards of the discipline. The course include Development Process and Planning Administration, Economics for Surveyors, Valuation Methods and Techniques in Practice, Investment Valuation and Portfolio Management.
Students have the opportunity to complete an internship, which is intended to develop students’ work ethics and inter-personal skills and to facilitate the acquisition of pragmatic competence in the discipline.

Entry Requirements
B.Sc. in Land Economy and Valuation Surveying
In accordance with general University entry
requirements, prospective students are required to:
a. Be at least 17 years at the date of entry to the programme.
b. Have five subjects including: English Language and Mathematics and three (3) other subjects in the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) general proficiency level at minimum Grade III (acceptable since June 1998) or General Certificate of Education (GCE) "O" levels at minimum grade of "C”.
AND EITHER
c. Two subjects at CAPE Units I & II) or GCE "A" Levels at minimum Grade D
OR
Alternative entry paths include any other
programmes and qualifications obtained at a
recognized educational institution. Applicants
accepted via this route are required to submit
academic transcripts and to document evidence
of relevant work experience; certified copies of
the course curricula studied are also required.
Selection Interview
All applicants who fulfill the entry requirement
satisfactorily will also be required to participate in a final selection interview in order to establish motivation and suitability for the course.
