Programme Goals
The Bachelor of Computing
with Management Studies post-diploma component aims to
combine degree-level computer studies with management
studies to meet the needs of the market. This will
provide a cadre of computing professionals equipped with
management skills to fill managerial positions in
computing industry. This is achieved by way of a major
concentration of computing courses and a minor of
management courses.
The post-diploma component which together with the CAST/
UTech diploma or its equivalent, called the Bachelor of
Computing with Management Studies (B. Sc. CMS) degree
programme is offered to graduates who hold a diploma in
Computer Studies.
Programme Objectives
On completion of the
program the graduates will be able to:

Demonstrate competency in
designing and developing software programs using several
programming languages.

Work effectively in both
independent and collaborative ways.

Demonstrate competencies
in fundamental core computing areas such as algorithms
and data structures, architecture, artificial
intelligence, data and information retrieval, numerical
and symbolic computing, operating systems and software
engineering.

Provide technical and
socio-technical solutions to organizational problems.
-
Demonstrate knowledge to
manage the resources and components of an information
system department effectively.

Demonstrate basic
entrepreneurial and marketing skills.

Communicate effectively,
articulate ethical reasoning and be able to analyze and
resolve moral issues pertaining to Information
Technology.

Develop a commitment to
lifelong learning and development in response to changes
in technology and job roles.

Acquire the foundation for
accessing higher education in computing and /or related
areas.
Entry Requirements
All candidates are
required to have a CAST/UTECH CS/SCIT diploma or the
equivalent, as determined by the School’s academic
administration. The prospective candidates should
provide evidence of satisfactory completion of the
computing core listed below:

Computer Networks
Candidates of the BCMS who
graduated prior to 1999 are required to have at least
one year of computing work experience in business or
industry. However, as of 1999, the SCIT Diploma students
who have successfully completed the general education
courses and the computing specialization’s will be
accepted without the Industrial Experience requirement.
