Classrooms
The
following rooms are available for lectures and tutorials.

Theatres - Capacity: 150, 100, 100, 85 persons
3 Double
Classrooms - Capacity: 60 persons each
3 Single
Classroom - Capacity: 30 persons each
1 Seminar
Room - Capacity: 15 persons

Conference Room - Capacity: 35 persons
The
double rooms can be partitioned into single rooms as
required. When examinations are held, the auditorium as well
as rooms in other faculties are used as needed.
Computer Laboratories:
The
Faculty has two laboratories. The first with 30 computers
serves the business students. The second has 17 computers
that serves the Family and Consumer Studies and Industrial
Technology students. There is a third laboratory located
within the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies but
controlled by the School of Computing and Information
Technology (SCIT) of the Faculty of Engineering and
Computing.
Other
Laboratories and Workshops:
The
Industrial Technology programme has laboratories/workshops
for:
Construction Technology, Electrical Technology and Mechanical
Technology.
The
Family and Consumer Studies has a Clothing laboratory, a Foods
laboratory and a Home Management flat.
The Library
The library
serves the entire university providing a central pool of
books, multimedia materials and equipment to support
instruction. It also maintains linkages with similar
institutions and organizations to widen its resource base.
Recent expansion has increased the area to 2000 m2
and provides for approximately 500 clients. The facilities
include:

a faculty
reading room to accommodate 20 persons;

2 seminar
rooms accommodating 12 clients each;

a media
laboratory equipped for class use or for previewing by 30
persons;

a
multi-media laboratory with internet access for 30 persons
-
a
conference room to seat 50 persons.
The Communication Self Access Centre
In order to facilitate
students with varying levels of language competency, the
Communication Division has developed a Self-Access Centre,
which enables persons to improve their English Language and
Communication skills, through monitored, individualized
programmes of self-instruction. |
