Bachelor of Science in Environmental Health (Public Health Option) - B.Sc. (EH)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The B.Sc. (EH) course seeks to produce graduates with the competencies for environmental management. Specifically, it seeks to produce graduates who will identify and address environmental and occupational conditions that have an impact on human health.

Graduates will be trained to foster and facilitate this process by gaining an understanding of the interdependence between man and his environment.

The course emphasizes building the human capacity for sound judgment and community development through the promotion of excellence, interactive learning, research and application. It provides the foundation upon which graduates can realize their potentials as they pursue advanced educational and professional training.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates find employment as Public Health Officers in the Ministry of Health or in the private sector.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Applicants must satisfy the following qualifications:

• A minimum of five (5) General Certificate Education (GCE) Ordinary Level A, B, & C or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) General Proficiency Levels 1, 2 and 3 (as of June 1998) or equivalent level examination passes in English Language, Biology/Human & Social Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and one other pass in an approved subject.

The compulsory subjects must be obtained at no more than two sittings. Attendance at a panel interview is required for all qualified applicants. Candidates with other types of academic qualifications will be evaluated in accordance with the University's regulations governing academic equivalence.
