COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Bachelor of Health Science is geared towards meeting existing personnel and occupational needs within the health-care system and is designed to build on the experience and skills of health professionals who already work in the public and private health sectors. The course builds on previous academic credits earned over a minimum of two to three years' full-time study in a variety of health professional training programmes. The objectives of the course are to:

  • Assist health professionals in upgrading their academic qualification to assume mid- and higher level supervisory roles;

  • Develop and expand their professional competence;

  • Provide a sound base for higher level studies.

COURSE ENTRY REQUIREMENT

Applicants should satisfy the following qualifications or possess their equivalent:

  1. Hold a UTech diploma in one of the health science discipline options offered in the course or have the equivalent training programme qualifications from other institutions.

  2. Applicants with a diploma or equivalent academic certification in general business administration or management will be considered for the Health Administration option in Module III.

Candidates over 28 years of age who do not hold a diploma but have some other acceptable health discipline qualification must in addition have at least 5 years of professional work experience. The University reserves the right to administer an entrance examination to ascertain proficiency in subjects needed for normal matriculation.
