The course is designed
to prepare graduates to:
1. To create an awareness
of the physical, social and mental development
stages of children.
2. To examine those factors which influence
growth.
3. To develop techniques which help the
child to achieve optimum development.
4. To create an awareness of the needs of
the children.
5. To train personnel in Child Care Agencies.

Graduates
of the course provide care and education
for pre school age children mainly in education
departments but also in government and private
sector, social services and leisure departments.
Some go on to set up their own nurseries,
or move in to related areas such as education
teachers or special needs advisor or social
services (care assistant).
Graduates
find work in schools, nurseries, children’s
homes, crèches, play schemes, playgroups,
health and family centres.

The selection
of the students to the course is within
the discretion of the University. The applicants
should satisfy the following academic requirements
or have reached an appropriate standard.
¨ A minimum of three GCE O’Level A,
B & C or general Proficiency Levels
1, 2 & 3 including English Language,
Mathematics, and one other subject and work
experience.
In addition applicants must pass a final
selection interview
