HISTORY OF THE SEMINAR
The annual marketing was introduced in 1981 as an integral part of the final year Business Administration course requirement for those majoring in Marketing, more specifically, BAM3 students.
This has now been extended to include students who are part-time.
The idea of the seminar was the brainchild of the late Mr. Vernard Johnson, a lecturer. Mr. Johnson worked with the now late Lloyd Edwards and Ms. Carol Anglin in staging the
first seminar. Since that time, the late Mr. Edwards and Ms. Anglin have continued the efforts until 2003.
The course is conducted as a series of class meetings chaired by the Chairman or Vice Chairman of the marketing Seminar.
There are also weekly executive and sub-committee planning meetings, with lectures acting as coach and advisers.
In 1996, a department seminar was introduced that involved all groups within the then Commerce department who were staging seminars individually. A special subcommittee; comprising the relevant lecturers and students representatives; plans and organizes this seminar.
This committee ensures that the necessary areas are fully integrated and responsibilities shared in ensuring success.
