Message from the Vice President, Student Services & University Registrar
It is with pleasure that I welcome you, our new resident students and welcome
back “returning residents”.
Students leaving home for the first time sometimes feel some apprehension about
living in a small space with complete strangers. How you integrate is your individual
choice, but just regard this as a part of your growth and development and seize
the opportunity to hone your relational skills. Resident Managers and returning
resident students will assist you to acclimatize.
Resident life is an important part of the University experience; unfortunately,
only a very small percentage of students benefit because of the space limitation.
We are moving quickly to increase the number of rooms, and plans to achieve this
are far advanced.
You have a distinct advantage over students who do not reside on campus because
you are in a secure and safe environment with amenities in close proximity. Many
on-dorm activities are provided for resident students, but you will benefit only
if you avail yourselves of them.
We continue in our efforts to improve the ambiance of the dorms and to make them
as comfortable as possible within the limits of the available resources. It is your
responsibility to take care of your dorm facilities both for yourselves and for
those who will occupy them after you leave.
Resident Managers are there to guide and direct you, so seek their assistance and
counsel. Become involved in resident life, develop healthy relationships and support
each other. Many lifelong friendships have their genesis on dorms. I trust that
your sojourn on dorm will be just one of the very positive experiences that you
will have at UTech.
