Message from the Resident Managers
The Resident Managers seize this opportunity to welcome new and returning resident students to the Halls of Residence - an exciting niche within the prestigious University of Technology, Jamaica affectionately called UTech. We guarantee you, that with your active participation throughout the academic year 2008/2009, the year will be one of the most enthralling, fulfilling, enriching and successful years of your lives.
Living on the Halls must be viewed as a privileged position and must be treated as such. With this in mind, we have sought to enhance your experience by organising a number of programs and activities for your balanced growth and wholistic development. They include cultural, health, sports, religious, fund-raising, outreach and other personal enhancement activities forming the calendar of events for the year, which will be made available to you. We urge you to be an active participant rather than a docile spectator.
The expectation is that returning resident students will be positive role models for new students, and personal guides to a positive orientation into the Hall and University community. We encourage you to plan for, position and prepare yourselves to contend for the many leadership opportunities that will become available toward the end of the academic year within the Halls and the wider University community. Due to the family spirit, support, adequate exposure and preparation of resident students, these leadership positions are generally taken by us – let us keep with this noble tradition. We wholeheartedly welcome the “new kid on the block” in the person of Mr. Gregory Linton, Resident Manager, Farquharson Hall who has already gelled with the team and we look forward to his unique contributions to Resident Life. We also salute the sterling contributions made by Mr. Courtney Garrick, Resident Manager, Hall F, who, through his tireless efforts and selfless commitment for over fifteen years, has impacted and improved many lives, systems and procedures for the betterment of the Halls. Mr Garrick you will be sincerely missed; continue to walk good. Mr Clavery Allen will now assume the Resident Manager responsibilities for Hall F.
We also look forward to the constant support of the Accommodation Unit and other university partners in our quest to make this year a memorable one for you, our resident students. Welcome and God bless you all.
