PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Child and Adolescent Development Degree programme utilizes a research & practice-based approach which integrates developmental, preventative and therapeutic requirements into the life of children, youth, families and communities.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must satisfy one the following:
- Passes in five (5) subjects: General Certificate Education (GCE) Ordinary Level A, B, & C or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) General Proficiency Levels 1, 2 and 3 (as of June 1998) in English Language, Mathematics, Human & Social Biology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Studies, Food & Nutrition, and two other passes OR
- Passes in three (3) subjects: General Certificate Education (GCE) Ordinary Level A, B, & C or Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) General Proficiency Levels 1, 2 and 3 (as of June 1998) in English Language, Mathematics, Human & Social Biology, plus a Certificate in Child Care & Development NCTVET Level 2 in Early Childhood Education. In addition, applicants must pass a final selection interview.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates will be equipped with specific skills for working in a variety of settings including: correctional services, hospitals, schools, community-based rehabilitation programs, as field officers, teachers, administrators, supervisors, and/or care givers; as well provide the foundation to pursue graduate studies in fields of psychology, sociology, social work, and other related areas
