PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION
The Child and Adolescent Development programme attempts to stimulate graduates to develop new insights into child development that can be applied to improve the adaptation, health and well-being of children. The aims of this course are to provide the tools for stimulating or facilitating growth and equipping graduates with the skills necessary to set up effective childcare agencies or institutions. This course would be beneficial to graduates seeking to pursue further education and professional qualifications in healthcare or other related fields.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The selection of the students to the programme is within the discretion of the University. The applicants should satisfy the following academic requirements or have reached an appropriate standard.
- A minimum of three GCE O’Level A, B & C or general Proficiency Levels 1, 2 & 3 including English Language, two other subjects, Relevant work experience would be an asset.
In addition applicants must pass a final selection interview.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of the programme provide care and education for pre-school age children mainly in education facilities, in government and private sector facilities, and social services. Some go on to set up their own nurseries, or move in to related areas such as education teachers or special needs advisors or social services (care assistant).
Graduates find work in schools, nurseries, children’s homes, crèches, play schemes, playgroups, health and family centres.
