Heads Message

It is my pleasure to welcome you to one of the newest ‘kids’ on the block - The Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics & Leadership (JDSEEL).  We are one of five schools in the College of Business and Management located in the most exquisite building - The Technology Innovation Centre on the Papine Campus of the University of Technology, Jamaica.

The School currently offers a bachelors degree in entrepreneurship aimed at persons wishing to pursue a career primarily as an entrepreneur and who upon graduating will pull together the necessary resources, human, physical and technological, to start and operate new businesses or to be intrapreneurs within existing businesses; leading to growth, diversification and expansion. The curriculum is designed to reflect modules that are practical in nature and participants are expected to work closely with industry, particularly those persons in the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector.
The School delivers a standard Entrepreneurship module in all degree courses of study offered at UTech. Ethics will now become a mandatory component within core modules as well as a stand- a alone course so everyone exiting the gates of UTech will be given the basic tools to participate in a more entrepreneurial and ethical society. Additionally, JDSEEL offers short courses, workshops and seminars in various areas of entrepreneurship, ethics and leadership to assist existing entrepreneurs develop and grow their businesses. Faculty act as consultants to businesses and governments in related areas and customize related courses for institutions.

The school has to its credit the Technology Innovation Centre, which houses a Business and a student incubator, that provides practical support to the course of study and give students hands-on experience at business operation and management; a business clinic which provides support for entrepreneurs with basic but critical business solutions to assist them in the management and growth of their businesses. This assistance to the MSME sector throughout Jamaica is provided through our network of business mentors, lecturers, students and administrators.  A Business Services Unit completes the suite of additional services offered within the School.

The faculty, staff and support team will help you in your journey of discovery and share with you conceptual and applied tools to act upon opportunities. We encourage you to come on board!

To our returning students, we hope your first year experience has been a rich and rewarding one and we look forward to better and brighter  achievements in the coming years.

For our first time visitors we thank you for your visit.  Whatever your reason we are pleased that you have ventured into this space, the virtual gateway to the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership.
