Pure & Applied Chemistry (UWI) Email: ddsmith@utech.edu.jm Telephone: (876) 970-5871 Extension: 2871 Read Dr. Gordon-Smith's Biosketch Dr. Debbie-Ann Gordon-Smith is the Director of the Centre for Science-Based Research, Entrepreneurship and Continuing Studies and a Lecturer in the Faculty of Science and Sport, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Pure and Applied Chemistry (Hons.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies. Her research interests include chemical analysis, groundwater studies, solid waste recycling and waste-to-energy technologies and she has numerous journal and conference scientific papers. Dr. Gordon-Smith serves on the Board of Undergraduate Studies and as Faculty Coordinator for Graduate Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship at the University. She also serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Arts Science and Technology (JAST). She is a member of the Laboratories Association of Jamaica and the Jamaica Young Scientists Forum. Dr. Gordon-Smith is an Environmental Consultant to a waste management company, Garbage Disposal and Sanitation Systems Limited, and a certified scuba diver. Close

  Dr. Andrew S. Lamm is a Lecturer and Principal Investigator in the Faculty of Science and Sport, University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). His research interests include: Natural Products Isolation; Bioassay Guided Fractionation; Drug Discovery; Biocatalysis & Biotransformation; Genetic & Metabolic Engineering; and Bacterial Taxonomy. His publications include peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, reports, as well as both commercial and academic presentations which are complimented by grant funding from local and international organisations.
  
  Prior to joining UTech, Dr. Lamm held the position of VA Professor in Chemistry at the University of Iowa. He was also a Research Fellow at the Center for Biocatalysis and Bioprocessing; and the Division of Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry, University of Iowa. Additionally, he has worked as a Postdoctoral Investigator in the Biomedical Research Division at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute.
  
  Dr. Lamm is a member of the American Society of Pharmacognosy, among other professional organisations. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry (Hons.) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in Chemistry from the University of the West Indies.
