Hon. Edmund Bartlett Minister of Tourism
Edmund
Bartlett was born in Westmoreland on December 3, 1950
to Alexander Rudulf Bartlett and Olivia
Lawson‑Bartlett. He attended St. Elizabeth Technical
High and the University of the West Indies.
An active
Member of Parliament for more than 22 years, Mr.
Bartlett has represented the constituency of East
Central St. James since 2002. During that time he has
also served as Opposition Spokesman for Tourism,
earning the
respect
of Industry players in both the private and public
sectors for his active participation in and thorough
knowledge of the sector as well as for sound judgment
and fair play in all commentary on its development.
Minister
Bartlett comes to his new appointment with a track
record of service as a legislator in central
government in both chambers of the House, in the Upper
House as a Senator, and in the Lower House as a Member
of Parliament, the position which he currently holds.
He has served as Minister of Youth and Community
Development as well as Minister of State for
Information, Broadcasting and Culture in a previous
administration of the Jamaica Labour Party in the
1980s.
His
professional career spans several positions including
Senior Accountant‑Revere Alumina Jamaica Ltd., Vice
President‑World Conference on Cultural Policies and
Vice Chairman‑U.N. International Youth Year Advisory
committee. He counts his tenure as Marketing Sales
Manager‑Texaco Caribbean Inc. immediately preceding
his entry into representational politics as perhaps
some of his most valuable years in the private sector
in preparing him for his current assignment.
A
member of Lions Club of Sav‑la‑Mar, Jaycees, Montego
Bay chapter, and the Electoral Advisory Committee he
is also the Founder and Patron of Jamaica Foundation
for Children. Minister Bartlett enjoys playing
cricket, dominoes, table tennis and dancing. He has
been married for 32 years and is the father of two.

Thomas G. Calderon,
Ph.D. Professor of Accounting
Chair, School of Accounting University of Akron, Ohio,
USA.
Dr.
Thomas G. Calderon, Professor of Accounting and Chair
of the School of Accountancy, was named the 2006
Outstanding Ohio Accounting Educator. Dr. Calderon
received his award from the American Accounting
Association Ohio Regional and the Ohio Society of
Certified Professional Accountants (CPAs).
The award
is given to a faculty member in the Ohio Region of the
American Accounting Association who has excelled in
teaching, research and service to the academic and
professional communities. The recipient is selected by
a committee that consists of senior accounting faculty
and professional accountants who are members of the
State Society of CPAs.
Dr.
Calderon has published several monographs and numerous
articles in top tier academic and professional
journals, and is recognized as a highly effective
teacher. He has served the academic and professional
communities in many different capacities. He is a Past
President of the Ohio Region of the American
Accounting Association, a Past President of the
Institute of Management Accountants ‑Akron Chapter,
and past Chair of the American Accounting
Association's Teaching and Curriculum Section. He
serves as ad hoc reviewer for Issues in Accounting
Education and Journal of Accounting Education and also
serves as ad hoc reviewer for several regional and
national academic meetings. He is a member of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants of Jamaica;
American Accounting Association; Institute of
Management Accountants and Information Systems Audit &
Control Association
Dr.
Calderon earned his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees from The
University of the West Indies‑Mona and completed his
Ph.D. at Virginia Tech (one of the top 50 research
universities in the US) in 1987. He joined The
University of Akron in August 1988 after two years as
Assistant Professor at the University of New Orleans.
He has worked in development banking, public
accounting and consulting prior to starting his Ph.D.

Robert Gilbert,
CHIME, CHA, President and CEO,
Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association
International (HSMAI)
As
President and Chief Executive Officer of the
Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association
International, Robert A. Gilbert, CHIME, CHA, has been
guiding HSMAI through a dynamic and exciting period of
change as the nearly 7,000 member organization has
been re‑established as the definitive hospitality and
travel marketing association in the world.
Prior to
joining HSMAI in 1995 (in an executive capacity),
Gilbert was the vice president of marketing for
Richfield Hospitality Services. Inc., at that time the
largest hotel management company in the world, where
he oversaw the corporate marketing support for all
Richfield hotels, which included 170 Hotels
representing every price tier and product type in the
industry.
Gilbert
holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of
Hotel Administration at Cornell University in Ithaca,
NY, and has been a member of HSMAI since joining the
student chapter at Cornell. He is a frequent guest
lecturer at Cornell University.
Gilbert serves on the Board of Directors of the
American Hotel and Lodging Association (AH&LA) and the
Convention Industry Council (CIC), and is also on the
Board of Trustees for the World Tourism Foundation as
well as the Travel and Tourism Coalition of the Travel
Industry Association of America.

Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace,
C.M.G.
Vincent
Vanderpool-Wallace, C.M.G., has had a long and
distinguished career in tourism in both the public and
private sector of The Bahamas and in the Caribbean
Region. Highly regarded in tourism circles both at
home and abroad, Vincent, last month, completed a
three-year stint as Secretary General of the Caribbean
Tourism Organization (CTO). Previously, he served as
Director General of Tourism in the Ministry of Tourism
for 12 years and was engaged for 11 years at Resorts
International (Bahamas) Ltd. where he held a number of
senior managerial positions.
A
former Chairman of the Management Committee of the
Bahamas Tourism Training Centre, Director of both the
Central Bank of The Bahamas and the Bank of The
Bahamas, and Chairman of the Hotel Corporation of The
Bahamas, Vincent assumes responsibility for our number
one industry. He is not only well prepared for the
challenges ahead, but is so recognized throughout the
industry. He was educated at the Government High
School in Nassau and graduated from Harvard University
with a Bachelor’s Degree cum laude. In 1981 he
obtained an MBA degree from the University of Miami.
Vincent, also a Roman Catholic, is the father of four
children: Alexandria, Ariana, Cydnay and Khilian. The
recipient of various honours including lifetime
achievement awards, Vanderpool-Wallace has been
recognised by none other than, his previous employer
the CTO, as one of fifty people who contributed most
to Caribbean tourism in the last half-century.

Patrick Hylton,
A.C.LB., B.B.A. C.D. Group Managing
Director
National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited.
Patrick
Hylton first received local and international acclaim
when he was appointed a leading role by the Government
in the rehabilitation of the Jamaican financial sector
during the mid 1990s. The wealth of his experience in
all facets of the financial services industry led to
him being named the Managing Director of FINSAC for
five (5) years, where he had responsibility for the
re‑structuring and divestment of intervened financial
institutions and the acquired assets.
His
successful completion of that undertaking culminated
in the national award of the Order of Distinction,
Commander Class, being bestowed on him by the Prime
Minister and Governor General of Jamaica in 2002.
In 2002
he joined the island's largest commercial bank,
National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB), as the
Deputy Group Managing Director, where his
responsibilities included the Bank's investment and
insurance subsidiaries. On December 1, 2004 Mr. Hylton
was appointed the Group Managing Director of NCB and
since then he has led the organization to achieve
record growth in profitability.
Complementing his strategic business acumen and an
empathetic but firm leadership style, are his academic
achievements as an Honours Graduate in Business
Administration and as an Associate of the Chartered
Institute of Bankers (ACIB) London. He is the
President of the Jamaica Bankers Association and in
addition to being a Director of NCB, Mr. Hylton is the
Chairman of Harmonisation Limited and sits on several
boards including the Caribbean Information and Credit
Rating Services (CariCRIS).

Dr. Srikanth Beldona
Assistant
Professor of Hospitality Marketing and E-commerce
at
the University of Delaware
Dr. Beldona has a Ph.D. from Purdue University and an
MBA from the Newcastle Business School, University of
Newcastle, Australia. Dr. Beldona's research is
largely focused on hospitality marketing, technology
oriented marketing, perceived fairness and perceived
value.
Dr. Beldona has published over fifty refereed articles
in journals and conferences.
His publications have appeared in the Cornell Hotel
and Restaurant Administration Quarterly, Journal of
Travel Research, Tourism Management, and International
Journal of Hospitality Management among others. He was
the Guest Editor for the Journal of Hospitality and
Leisure Marketing's 2008 special issue titled "The
Impact of Technology on the Marketing of Hospitality
and Travel Services". He was also recently appointed
Executive Editor of the newly announced Journal of
Hospitality and Tourism Technology from Emerald
Publishing.
At
the University of Delaware, he teaches Hospitality
Marketing and Travel Internet Marketing courses among
others. He is a member Hospitality Sales & Marketing
Association International (HSMAI), where he served on
the Advisory Board of its Faculty Special Interest
Group between 2005 and 2008.

Maxine Henry Wilson
Former Minister of Education and Youth, Jamaica
Member of Parliament, former Minister of Education and
Youth, Maxine Henry Wilson, was one of three female
Ministers in the past Government of Jamaica
administration.
As
Minister of Education and Youth, she held the firm
belief that education is the tool for effective
change. She has expressed the view that "a nation
that is well learned is a nation with greater capacity
to stand on its own".
Prior to her then appointment, former Minister
Henry-Wilson served as Minister of Information as well
as Minister without Portfolio in the Office of the
Prime Minister. A former Leader of Government Business
in the Senate (Upper House), Mrs. Henry Wilson has had
a long and successful sojourn as the General Secretary
of the People's National Party (PNP).
Mrs. Henry Wilson was born in Manchester, Jamaica. She
attended Vaz Preparatory School, St. Andrew High
School for Girls, the University of the West Indies,
Mona, Jamaica and Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA.
Mrs. Henry-Wilson holds two Master's Degrees - one in
Public Administration and the other in Public Policy.
She has taught at St. Hugh's High School in Kingston
and the University of the West Indies, Mona, Jamaica.

Mrs. Ethlyn Norton-Coke
Legal Counsel and Compliance Officer
University of Technology, Jamaica
Mrs. Norton-Coke is an attorney-at-law who has taught
extensively in the areas of Taxation, Auditing,
Financial Management, Money Laundering, Conveyance Law
and Office Management Courses for Attorneys at-law,
University of the West Indies, Norman Manley Law
School, Nova Southern University, University of New
Orleans and at the Jamaica Institute of Management
where she is a Fellow.
She is a Fellow of the Jamaica Institute of
Management. Highly sought after as an expert on
taxation, Mrs. Norton-Coke serves on a number of
Boards including the Jamaica Institute of Chartered
Accountants of Jamaica, the Public Accountancy Board,
the Jamaica Bar Association, the University Hospital
of the West Indies, the National Solid Waste
Management and the Advisory Board of Management of the
Registrar of Companies. Prior to joining UTech Mrs.
Norton-Coke served at Deloitte & Touche as Director,
Tax Services with responsibility for negotiating
liabilities in respect of areas of taxes, and arguing
tax cases at the levels of the Resident Magistrate and
Supreme Court. She has also served at Dunn Cox &
Orrett as Attorney-at-Law, National Housing Trust as
Legal Consultant and Caribbean Cement Company as Legal
Advisor/ Company Secretary.

Ms.Olubusola Henrietta Akinladejo
attorney-at-law & Full-time lecturer

Ms. Olubusola Henrietta
Akinladejo is an attorney-at-law and full-time
lecturer in the Faculty of Business and Management,
University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). She was
called to the Nigeria Bar in 1989 and the Jamaica Bar
in 1998. Her teaching career started in 1996 when she
joined UTech as the first full-time law lecturer in
the Commerce Department now Faculty of Business and
Management. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws degree
from Obafemi Awolowo University, also known as
University Ife, Nigeria in 1988. She also holds a
Master of Laws degree in Corporate and Commercial Law
from University of the West Indies and a Postgraduate
Diploma in Education from University of Technology,
Jamaica. She attended the Nigeria Law School, Victoria
Island, Lagos and the Norman Manley Law School,
Jamaica.
Olubusola
Akinladejo’s main areas of teaching are Business and
Company Law and her research is in corporate and
business crimes. She has a recent publication in the
Journal of Financial Crime entitled “Advance Fee
Fraud: Trends and Issues in the Caribbean”.

Collin Greenland
Collin Greenland is
currently establishing a Jamaican Chapter of the
Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and is the
author of “Persistent Perversity” – Jamaica’s
Experience with Pyramids, Ponzis and Partner Schemes.
He is Founder and Editor of “the White Collar Journal”
and is currently working on his second book,
“Ananciland” – Corruption, a Jamaican Perspective and
his Doctoral thesis at Revans University titled, “Do
Fraud and other types of White Collar Crimes
Facilitate or Enhance the Perpetration of Violent
Crimes.”
Mr. Greenland has had
a distinguished career in Internal Auditing, Fraud
Investigation and Forensic Accounting, and has
extensive managerial experience in both the private
and public sectors, which include life insurance, the
media, agro-industry, banking and consultancy. He has
participated in numerous seminars, workshops,
colloquia and public fora in his various fields. He is
a well-known contributor to local and international
journals and newspapers. He also specializes in fraud
prevention, detection and investigation and holds the
distinction of being Jamaica’s first Certified Fraud
Examiner, first Certified Financial Services Auditor
and first Certified Forensic Consultant.
Mr. Greenland
lectures and consults locally in all aspects of
white-collar crime, and appears in courts as an expert
witness in Fraud and Forensic Accounting
internationally. He is the Founder and Executive
Chairman of Kaizen Management Consulting and
Investment Company. He is an active member of the
Institute of Internal Auditor, is a Past President of
the Jamaica Chapter, and currently serves as Chairman
of the Board of Governors. Mr. Greenland is also
currently the Deputy Chairman of the Government of
Jamaica Audit Commission. He is also a member of the
Association of Fraud Examiners, The Jamaica Institute
of Management (Fellow), The Association of Certified
Fraud Examiners, and The American College of Forensic
Examiners.

Andrew L. S. Gordon,
Lecturer and Subject Leader, Computational Sciences
Leader, Forensic Computing Research Group
University of Technology, Jamaica
Mr. Andrew Gordon is
a Forensic Computing Specialist and a Lecturer at the
School of Computing and Information Technology,
University of Technology, Jamaica. He currently
facilitates modules in the Computational Sciences and
is in the process of developing modules in Forensic
Computing and Information Assurance.
Mr. Gordon obtained
his Master of Science in Information Technology
Security with distinction from the University of
Westminster, United Kingdom and a Bachelor of Science
in Computing and Information Technology from the
University of Technology, Jamaica. He has received
several awards in recognition of academic excellence
and co-curricular excellence from the national,
tertiary and secondary levels; notably the Prime
Minister’s National Youth Award for Academic
Excellence (2007); European Union Fellowship (2005);
Student of the Year, 1st Runner Up (2004) and the
Jamaica Technical High School Scholarship (2001) to
pursue undergraduate studies at the University of
Technology, Jamaica. Mr. Gordon has conducted
workshops in forensic computing which was supported by
law enforcement professionals, security administrators
and financial analyst. His research interests include
cyber crimes, cyber law and information assurance and
he enjoys hiking, basketball, swimming, the arts and
music.
