UTech, Jamaica Receives UCJ Programmatic Accreditation for Graduate Programmes in FELS

The University of Technology, Jamaica has been granted programmatic accreditation by The University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) for two more of its academic programmes in the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies (FELS).  These programmes are the Master of Science in Workforce Training and Education and the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education which was re-accredited. 

The accreditation of the Master of Science in Workforce Training and Education is for a period of four years from July 1, 2014 to June 30, 2018.  The accreditation of the Post-Graduate Diploma in Education is for a period of five years from August 1, 2013 to July 31, 2018. 

In the letter from The UCJ Chairman, Dr. Carolyn Hayle, dated June 5, 2019, conveying its granting of accreditation, the Council indicated that “Given that the University of Technology, Jamaica has been granted institutional accreditation, there is no requirement for renewal of programme accreditation.”

Dean of the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies, Dr. Rohan Lewis extends sincere and profound gratitude to the hardworking team involved in the achievement of this milestone.  Dean Lewis offers special thanks to Dr. Leonie Clarke for her outstanding contribution to driving the process to successful completion and for her dedication in overcoming the challenges associated with the accreditation process.

He also extends gratitude to Professor Colin Gyles, Dr. Gareth Phillips, Dr. Hope Mayne, Mrs. Anita Thomas-James; Ms Grace Hughes and Dr. Junior Martin for their leadership and support throughout the process.
