Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 63 Professor Nilza Aples Dean • School of Engineering • School of Computing and Information Technology Faculty of Engineering and Computing Student Achievements • Six graduates were awarded Bachelor of Engineering degrees with first class honours, two from Civil Engineering and four fromMechanical Engineering. Nine School of Computing and Information Technology (SCIT) students received first class honours at the University’s graduation ceremony held in November, 2018. Mr. Sean Ellis of the Civil Engineering was awarded the President’s Pin for attaining the GPA of 3.75. • BEng 4E student Mr. Oswin Wilson was selected by Hauwei to participate in the annual Hauwei Seeds for the Future programme in China during October 255 – November 8, 2018. • Mr. Arlando Dunkley, MSc Renewable Engineering student was granted the 2019 Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica Renewable Energy Scholarship. • Celine Lobban, 2nd year BSc in Computing Student was installed as an I Believe Initiative (IBI) Ambassador on the 22nd of November, 2018 at the 2018 IBI Reporting and Installation Ceremony/ Luncheon held at King’s House. Miss Lobban is also a scholarship recipient of the IBI programme. • Students Shanroy Dennis (2018) and Arlando Dunkley (2019) were recipients of the Petroleum Corporation of Jamaica (PCJ) scholarship. Huawei Scholarships Four SCIT students and one School of Engineering (SOE) student were selected as recipients of the Huawei Seeds for the Future 2018 program Sean Ellis, School of Engineering graduate receives the President’s Pin for attaining the GPA of 3.75.
