Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 70 Faculty of Science and Sport New Modules The Divisions of Chemistry, Biology, Physics (and Mathematics in the School of Mathematics and Statistics) offered new modules in the 2018/2019 Academic Year to fill gaps identified in the old curriculum of the BSc. in Science & Education. Special Events Caribbean Conference on Sport Sciences The 8th Annual Caribbean Sport Science Conference was held on April 15, 2018 under the theme Sports for All. The theme encompassed the Vision 2030 sustainable development goals supported by Jamaica, with sports for all to embrace inclusivity, sport as restorative therapy in health and medicine, entrepreneurship and facilities access. The keynote speaker, Dr. Paul Wright, a General Practitioner and Sports Medicine Practitioner spoke on the role of Physical Education as a Developmental Tool. The conference committee awarded three stalwarts in the field of Sport, namely: Mr. Patrick Anderson, Mr. Bradley Stewart and Mr. Aldrick McNab. 5th International Scientific Conference The 5th FOSS International Scientific Conference under the theme Accomplishing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals through Science, Technology and Innovation was held July 19-20, 2018 at the Papine Campus. The conference was well received by participants as well as by several sponsors who came on board. Over 30 scientific abstracts were submitted from UTech, Ja UWI and externally. The conference also included a special symposium titled Toxic Workplaces: Diagnosis and Treatment. He was also acknowledged for his selfless efforts in helping over 100 young talents to obtain scholarships to attend colleges in the United States.
