Accredited by the University Council of Jamaica (UCJ) ANNUAL REPORT 2018-2019 University of Technology, Jamaica 79 Mrs. Genefa Hibbert Chief Operations and Projects Officer Operations and Projects Division The Operations and Projects Office has over-arching responsibility for various support services of the University. These services include maintenance of buildings, equipment and infrastructure, physical planning, design, development and construction of new facilities, retrofitting of existing facilities, safety and security of all UTech, Ja, property and personnel, operation and maintenance of the University’s fleet of motor vehicles and disaster management and recovery. These support services are delivered through the three main arms of the Operations and Projects office, namely: Facilities Management Department (FMD), Project Management Unit (PMU) and Safety and Security Department (SSD). Facilities Management Department Projects Completed: 1. Emergency Escape (CSEII) – Construction of an Emergency Escape for the Building to accommodate staff and students for CSEII and SOBA. 2.Dennis Johnson Hall – Construction of three Additional rooms on the 1st floor that will accommodate an additional six residents. Other maintenance such as tiling and painting works were done to the facility. 3. FENC – Complete Painting of the Steel Architectural Structure; maintenance of the elevator landings, windows, gutters and box eave on the western end of the building. 4.Drawing Room – The building traditionally referred to as the “Drawing Room” was completely renovated. This included new roofing, tiling, painting, electrical and air-conditioning upgrade. The Building is now designated exclusively for use by the Faculty of Law. The renovated Drawing Room
