"Partnering with industry to produce work-ready graduates"

Message from Professor the Honourable Errol Morrison, O. J.,
President, University of Technology, Jamaica

Co-operative Education represents an important partnership between the University of Technology, Jamaica and national, regional and global industry.

We take great pride in the delivery of relevant programmes designed to give our students an holistic experience and to prepare you for the real world of work.  This is augmented and enriched by your participation in internship, industrial attachment, externship and other forms of practical experience that are appropriately integrated in the curricula.

I encourage our students to take full advantage of this work-related experience to learn, to grow and to acquire valuable career-building knowledge and competencies.  Do make the best use of the opportunity to network with the cadre of professionals who have partnered with the University to provide you with practical hands-on training.

As you gain valuable experience wherever you may be attached, I urge you to be exemplary UTech ambassadors as you carry out your assignments.

Best wishes.

Prof. the Hon. Errol Morrison, OJ
President

Message from the University's Co-operative Education Co-ordinator

Adopting a work-integrated learning approach in the delivery of its programmes has contributed significantly to UTech’s enviable reputation of producing resourceful graduates who are able to make an almost seamless transition into the work world. Our students, upon graduation, are equipped with the requisite skills and competencies which make them the preferred choice of employee among employers locally, regionally and internationally.

This growing recognition of the value of an integrated approach to learning has resulted in an increasing demand to access UTech’s programmes both locally and regionally.

The Co-operative Education Unit therefore welcomes and encourages all our students to fully utilize the opportunities presented through Co-operative Education to enrich their University education and further enhance their marketability.
