Dr. Paul Ivey Associate Vice President Page 37 University of Technology, Jamaica ANNUAL REPORT 2015-2016 SCHOOL OF GRADUATE STUDIES, RESEARCH & ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SGSRE) The School of Graduate Studies, Re s ea r ch & Entrepreneurship (SGSRE) manages the development and deliver y of gr adua te p r o g r a mm e s . Directed by the research mandate of the University, the School has the responsibility to guide and support research activities, with a particular focus on inter-disciplinary and applied research relevant to economic and social problems and needs. As an income-generating centre of the University, the School guides and supports entrepreneurial activity primarily through the delivery of consultancy services and the creation of research & development innovations. Over the 2015/2016 year the SGSRE continued the University thrust to build graduate education and research, to secure consultancies and grants, to manage intellectual property rights, advance the programme for sustainable energy use and cost savings, and to oversee University academic publications, particularly the flagship Journal of Arts Science and Technology (JAST). Founding Vice-President Professor Gossett Oliver retired from the University in December 2015 and Acting Deputy President Dr Haldane Johnson assumed leadership of the SGSRE. GRADUATE STUDIES In the 2015-2016 Academic Year the University offered 39 graduate degree courses of study, an increase of five over the previous year. A total of 138 students, 60 males and 78 females, were enrolled in these courses of study.
