SPECIAL CERTIFICATION/ACCREDITATION • Approved for Fellowship, Mastership and Diplomate training in Dental Implantology by ICOI and AAIP • Approved for training/certification in Laser Dentistry by Global Laser Oral Health LLC • Approved Centre for CADCAM certification • Approved by Special Olympics for treating special needs children • Endorsed by the Jamaica Autism Support Association for treatment and dental management of children with Autism • Approved by the Ministry of Health for training all categories of Dental Professionals • Approved by the Minister of Health as a School of Anatomy INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT AND FACILITIES UPGRADING • The College received grant funding of Twenty-one Million Dollars ($21,000,000.00) from the Culture, Health, Arts, Sports and Education (CHASE) Fund for the purchase of Fifteen (15) PLANMECA State-of- the-art Dental Chairs. These chairs were delivered to the College on February 5, 2016 and installed by the Planmeca Engineers in June 2016. • A new postgraduate Dental Suite and an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Suite were established. • The Sirona Dental Company donated six (6) state of art Dental Simulation Units to the College in February 2016 (4 single and one double unit). These units will assist the Dental Hygiene, Dental Laboratory Technology and Doctor of Medical Dentistry students acquire pre-clinical skills. • Sybron Technology donated close to US$300,000 worth of Endodontic equipment The College of Oral Health Science is a significant contributor to Oral Health Services in Jamaica and the Region. The College trains all categories of professionals for the Oral Health Workforce, making it the only institution of its kind in the English-speaking Caribbean. In addition to the major contribution of training Dental Surgeons, Dental Therapists and Assistants for the Public Services, the College also provides significant clinical services to the people of Jamaica. For added value, the College is also a leader in clinical research in oral health, applying both theoretical and practical approaches to dentistry.
