UTech, Jamaica Student Athletes Selected for National Team to World Relays in China

Two standout athletes from the University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech, Jamaica) MVP Track and field Club programme, Shana-Kaye Anderson and Krystal Sloley have been named to Jamaica’s national team for the World Athletics Relays scheduled for May 10–11, 2025, in Guangzhou, China.

According to the JAAA announcement, Krystal Sloley is included in the women’s 4x100m relay pool, while Shana-Kaye Anderson is named among the athletes for the women’s 4x400m relay team.

Anderson, a specialist in the 400m, and Sloley, a key competitor in the 100m and 200m sprints, were selected following strong performances at the recent 2025 Intercollegiate Track and Field Championships, where they both contributed significantly to UTech, Jamaica’s team results. Krystal Sloley placed first in the 100m and second in the 200m, while Shana- Kaye Anderson placed first in both the 400m and 800m.

Their inclusion on the national team underscores the continued impact of the UTech, Jamaica Knights on the local and international athletics scene. The World Relays serve as a qualifying meet for the 2025 World Athletics Championships and the 2026 Olympic Games.

Each year, UTech, Jamaica invests heavily in its sports programme, with significant funding allocated to athletic scholarships supporting student-athletes across all sport disciplines. In addition, we continue to provide dedicated on-campus housing at our Papine campus for students enrolled in our Elite Sports Programme. The university athletes have been sponsored by Puma for several years and a new sponsorship deal is currently being negotiated."
