Promotion of Capacity and Energy Educa- tion Development in the Caribbean Region (PROCEED-CARIBBEAN) The 42-month project continued throughout 2015 and included training of trainers on energy modelling, energy access, financial and administrative management and curriculum development through interactive workshops and trainings, networking and cooperation amongst partner institutions and relevant stakeholders. Specific activities included workshops and training events in each Caribbean partner institution and short/medium term study visits by Caribbean staff/PhD students to University of Turku and Tampere University of Technology in Finland. Bureau of Standards (BSJ) A Memorandum of Understanding between the UTech, Jamaica and the Bureau of Standards Jamaica will facilitate a Joint Project between National Metrological Institute (NMI) of the Bureau of Standards and the SOE. The aim of the project is to infuse the teaching of metrology in the engineering programme. The deliverables will include: • The training and certification of UTech, SOE and BSJ staff in the area of metrology • Availability of elective modules in metrology in all engineering programmes • Industrial work experience for our students The BSJ will also make their laboratories available to UTech, Ja. lecturers and students to support practical modules.
