• Wear your Student ID at ALL TIMES.
• Respect the security officers. They are placed here to serve and
protect you from harm.
• Trust your instincts. If you get a bad “vibe” from someone, put some
distance between yourself and the person.
• Be aware of your surroundings at times when you may be less alert
and more vulnerable to an attack, e.g., during exams, when you are
upset, sick, or tired.
• Use discretion and caution when taking shortcuts through isolated
parts of the campus. Utilize the Safety and Security campus escort
service.
• Report all incidents or “CLOSE CALLS” to the Safety and Security
Department.
• Do not leave your valuables unattended.
• Ensure that your car doors and windows are closed upon exiting
your vehicle.
• Be discreet with cash.
• Avoid using an ATM at night. If you must use an ATM at night, ask
someone to ccompany you.
• Check around the ATM first to ensure that no one is lurking in the
shadows.
• The Safety and Security Department is situated to the left of the
Administration building’s main entrance. The Department can be
contacted at extensions 3221 or 3551.
