welcome and best wishes to new students for the 2014/15 Academic Year.

Local Student Recruitment

The annual UTech, Jamaica Open House, led by

the Student Recruitment Unit was held Tuesday,

September 30 in Kingston and Thursday, October

2 in Montego Bay under the theme “Discover Your

Purpose”.

Over 1,500 students from 48 high schools participated

in Kingston and approximately 200 from 11 schools

participated in the west.

The Student Recruitment Unit coordinated with

representatives from the College/Faculties to visit and

make presentation at approximately 55 high schools

and community colleges.

International Recruitment

Representatives from the University attended the

International College Fair in Antigua and made a special

visit to Montserrat.

New Student Orientation

During the week of August 17- 23, 2014, over 1,000 new

and transfer students attended the Annual Orientation

Programme organized under the theme ‘Embracing

UTech’s Core Values.” The culminating activity for

the week, the Academic Induction Ceremony was

held on Friday, August 22, 2014 in the Alfred Sangster

Auditorium.

Student Leadership Conference

The University hosted the 16th Annual Student

Leadership Conference under the theme: “Student

Leaders: Embracing UTech, Jamaica’s Core Values.” In

addition to focus on leadership development, sessions

were offered in areas of personal development, Team

Building, Dining and Etiquette and Voice and Speech.
